Naptime

After my mom, Annabelle and I finished a very busy and long day of Christmas and grocery shopping (from 1:30 p.m. until 6:15 p.m.), we climbed into the car at Costco to head for home. As soon as Annabelle realized we were probably finished shopping for the evening, she asked the following.

Annabelle: Mommy, why did God and Jesus decide it was naptime?

Since Annabelle no longer naps, she refers to all bedtimes as "naptime." And, once it is dark outside, she realizes that a "naptime" is in her near future as much as she likes to fight it.

Mommy: Because we all need to rest each day.

Annabelle: I don't like seeping [sleeping]! [with a whimper and rub of the eye]

I tell Christopher that God turns out the lights and puts on the night lights (moon and stars) for him and the world. That He cares for him so much that he made the night lights so he wouldn't be in darkness. He piped up - Jesus is the light of the world and my personal night light. Then yawned and out he went. At night we also have to tell him before he falls asleep on the couch (won't fall asleep in his bed yet) that we'll put his jammies and pullup on him and take care of him and take him to bed and wham he's out.
