Sassy "NO!"

Lovely! The words are really starting to flow now! Unfortunately, they aren't always the best words for an 18 month old to learn. Where do they learn this stuff? Oh, that would probably be from me!

So, some time around April 9th...a few weeks before probably...my sweet and innocent daughter started saying "Mine!" Mine? What? Where did you learn to use the word "mine?" I really did not think I used that word around her, and she's not in day care. She has been around some older children though, and she spent Easter Sunday at the church nursery. That has to be where she learned it! Right?

So, now, we have another new word that just started this past Friday, May 2nd. And, yes, it is the word "NO!" I guess that is even more proof that the child does understand the meaning of "No!" And, she really has understood the meaning for awhile now. I really didn't think I told her "no" that often though.

So, it isn't a sweet innocent "no." She is so sassy when she uses it! "NO!" She says. And, she means business!

Today, one of our cats, Jez, came in the room and started sniffing Annabelle's paci that Annabelle had dropped on the carpet. Jez didn't touch the paci or lick it, she just smelled it. Well, Annabelle saw her, and she turned to Jez and said "NO!" I couldn't believe it!

And, the best part, she is now telling me "NO!" when I tell her that we need to change her diaper or that she needs to sit down when she is on the couch. Apparently, she doesn't think so!

For awhile now (probably a few months), whenever the oldest cat, Shadow, climbs onto her changing table to take a nap or scratches the carpet, Annabelle has turned to her and nodded her head with the expression of "no," but now, she just tells her "NO!"

WOW! I really have my work cut out for me, don't I?

And, it is now 1:15 a.m., and I just heard Annabelle cry. I was about to head to bed too. It may be a rough night. Wish me luck!

Well, she's got more nerve than I have. I don't say "no" to either of the cats, so we know she didn't get that from me! I would rather leave Shadow on the changing table than suffer through her nasty attitude. I can always change Annabelle on the floor, myself. She probably picked up her sassy "no" from Shadow!
