What's wrong with brown pants?

Apparently, they are "dark" according to Annabelle. This morning, as I was dressing Annabelle, I pulled out some dark brown Old Navy pants that I bought from a consignment sale for $7 back in September. I thought they were really cute, and I knew she'd get a lot of wear out of them, so they were worth the $7 in my eyes. That's probably a little steep for a consignment sale, but they had never been worn either.

So, I thought, "These are really cute, and they'll match the cookies on her 'I Ate Santa's Cookies Shirt'."

Well, Annabelle apparently didn't agree! Immediately, she said, "NO!" "Dose Mommy's Pants!" I said, "Sweetheart, these aren't Mommy's pants." Keep in mind, I think I only own one pair of brown pants, and I rarely ever wear them because they are dressy, and they need to be dry cleaned at this moment before I can wear them to work.

Then, she proceeded to tell me, "NO! Dark! Dose Dark!"

Okay?!?! She doesn't like these pants because they are dark? Seriously? I thought, "You are barely even two years old. I didn't think you were supposed to start having a real say in what you wear until you are 2 and a half...scratch that...sixteen!"

So, I asked her, "Would you rather wear these jeans?" She said, "Mmmhuhh. Just Jeans, Mommy."

Guess what Annabelle ended up wearing? Jeans!

I suspect those $7 pants are never going to get worn by this child. And, they are so darn cute! Too bad they'll be out of style by the time we get around to having a second child, if the second child is even a girl!

I feel your pain. Christopher WILL NOT wear his Veggie Tales Christmas shirt that I got for him. I thought Veggies+Choo Choo = cool shirt. Apparently not. He also does not like it at all!!! That goes for the VERY cute Gap sweater that I got for $5 with matching hat too.
