Annabelle called me back into her room for the 3rd or 4th time this evening at 10:51 p.m. Why? Per Annabelle, "I need a pillow."
"A pillow?" I asked. "I don't have a pillow for you baby."
"Uh huh. I show you," she said as she hiked her leg over the rail to try and climb out of the crib to show me.
"No sweetheart. Just tell me what pillow you are talking about."
"Dat pillow on the couch," she said.
"No, those pillows aren't for sleeping on," I told her. Insert crying and fussiness. "Would you like one of Mommy's pillows."
"Uh huh."
So, I left and brought back one of my pillows thinking I was sleeping without my second pillow for the evening. If you know me, you know that I don't sleep very well without my second pillow. I always have one under my head and another over my head and face. I know, a little weird, but I cannot stand lights when I sleep, and I guess it has just become a habit.
Well, I was wrong. She called me back again and then again. She decided first that she didn't want the pillow any more. Then, she tells me, "I need to go tee tee and poo poo in potty." So we go, and she tee teed. Then, "I not sleepy, Mommy." She screams as I place her back into the crib, so I gave in and told her I'd rock her for a little while. I finally left around 11:20 p.m., and I'm crossing my fingers that she finally decided to go to sleep.
She asked me as I was leaving, "You going to sleep Mommy?"
I guess she's quickly learning that Mommy doesn't go to sleep when Annabelle goes down for naptime and bedtime.
If she weren't such a pill the days that she doesn't take naps, I would cut those things out completely. It just seems that some days she still needs a nap, desperately, and other days, not so much. This is such a struggle!
And you thought you were going to get something juicy from the title, didn't you?

Oh my goodness! I just told Daddy this morning I wanted to get Annabelle a pillow. She wanted one in her bed when she was here last week. I gave her that nursing pillow since it didn't serve quite as much like a mattress in her bed as the big one would have, but she slept with it in her bed.
I saw a couple at Sears last week that were just her size and I wanted to see if they still had them, but we were in a hurry to get to get home. Now I have to try to find her one. We'll see. Of course we may have a problem with a pillow case since they cost more than the pillow.
By the way, when you weren't sleepy when you were little you were the same way.
Now when she's at my house she needs that nap and to be in bed early! I need my naps.
Christopher has a pillow and has had one for a long time b/c of his reflux. He didn't want to go to bed last night either and I was exhausted. I don't want to kill the infrequent naps we get, but on those days bedtime is so much later.
Walgreens has travel sized pillows and the cases at a good price.
