Potty Training Again

I finally decided it was time to start the potty training yet again. Annabelle has been potty trained for the poopie part for awhile now, probably dating back to when we initially started potty training back in October 2008. So, she gets the gist of it.

She's probably been ready for awhile, but I had and got my feel of it back in October, enough to make me never want to potty train her again. And, honestly, I think the potty training would have worked last time if we hadn't been gone pretty much every weekend for a month after the week I initially started. I just couldn't bring myself to have her walk around naked at someone else's house. That would just be rude! And, the Pull-Ups just don't cut it!

It probably was a little early for her back in October (at 24 months), so the accidents were probably much more likely then than they are now. And, it was probably all that more frustrating due to the number of accidents.

I cannot think of a better time to potty train a child than in the spring and summer when the weather is warmer and less clothes are required. Less clothes = less laundry! Not to mention, I can put her in dresses all day without underwear and she doesn't look naked! That is one great thing about having a little girl! We've been playing outside, and no one even knows that she doesn't have any drawers on.

So, I started again on Monday morning. It is 3:52 p.m. on Wednesday afternoon, and so far (my fingers are crossed), no accidents at all!

Granted, I've been putting diapers on her at naptime and bedtime (and while we were in the car for about 3 hours yesterday), and she's been wetting her diapers. That was until today. Then, I had the bright idea of putting her froggie potty inside her crib with her so she could use the potty during naptime and go without a diaper. Honestly, this wasn't my bright idea. I read it in a book.

I put her down for a nap at 3:45 p.m., another late nap, and just a few minutes ago, I went in because she called my name, and I realized she had tinkled in the potty. She told me, "I showed Becca how to tee tee in the potty." Becca is one of her Cabbage Patch Kids that came from Grandmama's house. I felt a few droplets on Becca's feet, but I think it was just a little tee tee that splashed out from all of the jumping that Annabelle has been doing in her crib. So, I left Becca alone for now.

I have not put her into any big girl panties or Pull-Ups yet, so that will be the true tale. Last time, whenever I put big girl panties or Pull-Ups on her (and definitely diapers), she would instantly tee tee all over them. It was as if she thought they were diapers. I plan to ease into the big girl panties and hopefully never use a Pull-Up this time around.

Last time, after she tee teed on the big girl panties once or twice, she seemed to understand that she wasn't supposed to tee tee on the princesses. I would tell her, "Don't tee tee on the princesses. They don't like to get tee tee on them."

M&M's have been the reward of choice yet again this go around. Oddly enough, I swore up and down I would never potty train my child with candy as a reward. I have learned pretty early on in the mommy stage to "never say never." It takes being a Mommy to really understand and apply that saying even though I still find myself fighting the urge since there are so many different ways to parent.

So, wish us the best! Potty training is exhausting, and I have knots in my stomach after only 3 days of potty training.

I will post later on the naptime fiasco (if any)! Hopefully, she'll stay dry during naptime and use her potty as needed.

That is so cool we are potty-training at the same time! I like the idea of putting the potty in the crib.

Good luck this time around!!

I hate potty training. C is trained if he's butt naked but put a stitch of clothing on him and he's not. Talk about frustrating. Oh and he won't wear shorts - just jeans. I've bought him every kind of underwear - Diego, Cars, Elmo, Plain white, boxers and he refuses them. So instead of getting more gray hair I'm giving back into him wearing pullups.
